This webinar will help consultants and directors consider the value of writing center work in preparing students for future degrees and careers. It will discuss how writing center work can best be presented on a resume or portfolio and will help consultants explore graduate school options and cover how to identify options and navigate the application process.
Bios
Kevin Dvorak, Ph.D., is the Executive Director of the NSU Writing and Communication Center; a Professor in the Department of Communication, Media, and the Arts; and Faculty Coordinator for the undergraduate First-Year Experience program. He is a past president of both the International Writing Centers Association and the Southeastern Writing Center Association, and he currently serves as a Senior Editor for the Journal of Faculty Development. He has recently published in Multidisciplinary Approaches to Culminating Student Experiences, The National Teaching and Learning Forum, Teaching Writing in the Health Professions, Communication Center Journal, and Academic Leader. Dr. Dvorak earned the 2014 NSU STUEY Award for Professor of the Year.
Janine Morris, Ph.D., is a Faculty Coordinator of the NSU Writing and Communication Center; and Associate Professor in the Department of Communication, Media, and the Arts. She is a past president of the Southeastern Writing Center Association. Her co-edited collection, Emotions and Affect in Writing Centers, was published in 2022. She has recently published in Southern Discourse in the Center; Teaching Writing in the Health Professions; English Studies Online: Programs, Practices, Possibilities; and Deep Reading: Teaching Reading in the Writing Classroom.
