C.A.R.E CertificationThe "Center Acknowledgment and Recognition of Excellence" (C.A.R.E.) program was developed by the SWCA Research & Development (R&D) Committee as part of its focus on using institutional and organizational research to provide enhanced resources and opportunities for members of the writing center community.
Certified centers are encouraged to display the C.A.R.E. certification badge, and to link back to the SWCA C.A.R.E. Certification page. Please contact us if you have questions about the C.A.R.E. certification program.

The certification process consists of the following steps:
Centers can request $250 in Center Innovation Grant funds upon receipt of certification approval. These funds can be used for your center in ways that promote professional development and continued enhancement of center initiatives.
SWCA certification through the C.A.R.E. program is valid for five years. At the four-year mark, certified centers due for recertification will be notified, and recertification statements will be due one year from notification.
The recertification process consists of a two-page letter recertification letter sent to the R&D Committee summarizing steps the center has taken to continue excellent standards based on the following suggested prompts:
