IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT

Thank you for your interest in the 2022 SWCA-Florida Tutor Collaboration Day.

As many parts of Florida continue their recovery from the recent hurricane, and some SWCA-Florida member colleges and universities remain closed until next week, we have decided to postpone SWCA-FL Tutor Collaboration Day until November. We will reach out to SWCA-FL members as soon as a new date is chosen.

We invite writing consultants and directors from across Florida to join us on TBD, for a day of collaboration and conversation among writing center staff. This is a hybrid event allowing participants to participate by physically coming to the Nova Southeastern University Writing and Communication Center in Fort Lauderdale, FL, or by joining remotely by Zoom. Brunch will be provided for registered in-person participants. Register today for this free event to let us know if you will be attending in-person or online, or wish to present.

With COVID restrictions recently lifted by the CDC, for many writing centers in the SWCA, this semester marks a return to more face-to-face interaction with clients and with other consultants. Lessons learned and habits developed while working remotely may need to be assessed and revised, or may inspire new and improved practices. Workers across the university are revisiting how to maintain work/life balance, and administrators are seeking ways to continue supporting employee physical and mental health. Amid all this, consultants are returning to the daily work of guiding students through the writing process of producing texts across a range of genres, purposes, and contexts. We invite you to join or lead discussions around the concerns and ideas you have as we return to our centers for a new year of the work we do.

How to Register to Attend or Present

Please register for this free event to let us know if you will be attending in-person or online (you can also say you are "undecided" and we will contact you closer to the event date to determine numbers for food). If you are interested in being a discussion leader, please register by TBD and, when you fill out your registration, let us know the topic on which you would be willing to present and facilitate discussion. Each discussion will last 30 minutes, but to provide as much interaction as possible, we will ask discussion leaders to limit any formal presentation to less than 5 minutes, and to spend the majority of the session time posing questions and facilitating discussion.
